Position Overview:
The Lab Technician supports new product development by performing mechanical testing on casters and wheels. You will execute industry-standard and customer-specific test protocols, maintain laboratory equipment, and ensure accurate documentation for our Project Engineering and Quality departments.  No wet chemistry. 

KEY RESONSIBILITIES:
Mechanical Testing & Analysis:
  • Perform load, durability, impact, and environmental simulation testing according to industry and internal standards.
  • Convert customer requirements into equivalent lab procedures using existing equipment to simulate real-world performance.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving testing methodologies.
Laboratory Operations & Maintenance:
  • Troubleshoot, calibrate, and improve mechanical test equipment and fixtures.
  • Develop new test fixtures and jigs to support evolving product requirements.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for automated data collection.
Documentation & Reporting:
  • Create detailed test records including parameters, observations, and outcomes.
  • Prepare summarized reports and maintain consistent reporting standards.
  • Communicate scheduling and status updates to engineering stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Education: High School Diploma required; Associate Degree in Mechanical Technology or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in a mechanical testing or laboratory environment.
  • Technical Skills: At least 1 year of experience with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Software: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for data reporting.
  • Aptitude: Strong mechanical reasoning and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and manual handling of test components.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and walk long distances throughout the facility.
